Taking care of one’s skin is an ongoing process. The skin of the face alone experiences many threats, including loose or crepey skin, wrinkles or fine lines, enlarged pores, scars, and other discoloration. In the midst of these challenges, it can be difficult to know which skincare products or procedures are right on an individual basis. We recommend microneedling treatments as an innovative way to revitalize the skin’s appearance and health.
However, simply opting for a microneedling treatment is not the end of the decision-making process. There are many variations on that theme, including standard microneedling, RF microneedling, and Morpheus8. Each of these processes has its unique advantages and limitations.
Microneedling
Microneedling is a skin treatment that traces its roots back to the ancient art of acupuncture. Using ultra-thin needles (thinner than a human hair), the microneedling treatment creates tiny punctures in the skin’s top layer. The body responds to such damage by stimulating the production of elastin and collagen. These proteins function primarily to keep the skin smooth and firm.
The microneedling procedure is minimally invasive and is a significant improvement on more surgical methods. Still, it is not without its risks. Though worst-case scenarios, which are rare, patients can experience bruising, scarring, or skin infections. This is particularly true when the treatment is not administered in a qualified medical facility.
The benefits of microneedling treatments commonly outweigh the risks. The procedure can reduce blemishes on the skin, including acne, acne scars, wrinkles, and stretch marks. Typically the process is used for cosmetic reasons, though it can also assist in the treatment of some medical conditions. Microneedling is most commonly used for the face, though damaged or aging skin of the neck, back, and legs can also benefit.
RF Microneedling
Radiofrequency (RF) microneedling follows the same basic principles of standard microneedling treatments, with the addition of heat. RF microneedling also uses a handheld device with an array of micropins used to create targeted injury to the skin to promote localized healing and collagen production. However, during a RF microneedling treatment, the device also delivers a current of high-intensity radio frequency energy.
This introduction of energy gently warms the tissue where the needles have entered the skin. The heat stimulates cell regeneration within the deep tissue at an accelerated rate and unifies the process through the area being treated. The growth of new collagen fibers improves skin quality and texture, causing it to tighten and firm.
RF microneedling is performed under topical numbing and, depending on the area being treated, takes approximately one hour. As is the case with all microneedling treatments, optimal results typically follow repeat procedures, the best results usually visible after two to four visits. The recovery period after the procedure is minimal, as are the side effects. Rarely, these include mild bruising or pinpoint bleeding, but mild redness in the skin lasting 24 hours after treatment is more typical.
What Is Morpheus8?
Morpheus8 is one of the microneedling treatments we offer at Advanced Electrolysis. It is the most effective and as an added benefit, the only such treatment that is approved by the FDA to treat subdermal adipose tissue. Morpheus8 gets to the real root of the problem. Consider the culmination of all the other microneedling procedures have to offer. In addition to providing the most profound results, Morpheus also offers the most variety.
Building on the work of RF microneedling, Morpheus8 uses both precise microneedles and bipolar radiofrequency energy to improve blood flow, boost collagen production, and facilitate healing and remodeling at a deep cellular level. By remodeling sub-dermal adipose tissue, Morpheus8 facilitates facial and body contouring in addition to addressing more cosmetic concerns surrounding aging and scarring.
These are just a few of the remodeling results of the Morpheus8 treatment:
- Reduced fine lines and wrinkles
- Tightening of the skin
- Reduction of cellulite
- Smoother skin texturing
- Minimized enlarged or congested pores
- More even skin tone
- Reduction of scarring
- Reduction of alopecia hair loss
- Reduction of hyperhidrosis
There are many different Morpheus8 treatments, each tailored to different areas of the body with different goals in view. For example, Morpheus Prime is ideal for the sensitive areas of the face where the skin is delicate and the bones are pronounced. It uses the finest micropins and does not penetrate the skin deeply. On the other hand, Morpheus Body uses Burst Mode RF Vulcanization technology to provide multi-level treatments to wider areas like the thighs and abdomen in a condensed time.
Typically, the results of the treatment are evident from the first appointment, but they continue to improve even months afterward. It is common for the most effective results to be present between three and six months after treatment as the body continues to produce more collagen. In this way, Morpheus8 is a perpetual skincare treatment.
Exosome Treatment
Exosomes are tiny vesicles released by cells into the extracellular environment and they serve as crucial messengers in intercellular communication. They transport proteins, lipids, RNA, and other molecules, playing a key role in immune response regulation, tissue repair, and cell signaling.
To enhance the results and healing with Morpheus8, exosomes can be combined to lead to improved outcomes and increase patient satisfaction. Exosomes are quickly becoming a promising method for skin rejuvenation due to its stimulating effects of collagen production and tissue regeneration. Incorporating exosomes into facial treatments can effectively refine skin texture, diminish fine lines and wrinkles, and enhance overall complexion. This non-invasive approach to facial and body rejuvenation utilizes the natural properties of exosomes, promoting cellular communication and facilitating the transfer of essential molecules between cells.
