Laser Hair Removal
Reduction Hair Removal
Laser hair removal is one of the most popular cosmetic treatments available in the United States. Unwanted hair can be a source of significant embarrassment and anxiety. Removing unwanted hair can seem like a tireless, never ending task. Laser hair removal is an effective methods for removing hair in unwanted areas without creating more or thicker hair. The overall cost of laser hair removal will fluctuate based on the area being treated.
How it Works
Laser (light amplification by stimulated emission radiation) is a hair removal treatment that targets the melanin in the hair through a laser beaming highly concentrated light into the skin and hair follicles. Pigments in the hair absorb the light and heat up to the point of singeing which then destroys the hair and the surrounding root cauterizing the blood supply putting the hair into a dormant state. Due to this fact, it is only effective on dark hair due since the melanin or dark color of the hair, absorbs the heat from the laser. Hair growth is in cycles, so one laser hair removal treatment is not sufficient to remove the hair in its entirety in that area. Multiple treatments at different intervals are required to ensure that the hairs are treated while still connected to the blood supply, root. The most effective results tend to come with 6-8 treatments that are spaced at various weeks apart depending upon the area being treated.
